November 16, 2003 - Castillo de San Marcos (St. Augustine, FL)

November 16th we drove down again to St. Augustine and we visited the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, a Spanish era fort. 

The fort was old, but tough:

There were also cultural displays, including this one on the lost native tribes:

This shows why the fort was placed where it was, it was protected and easy to defend:

The setting is scenic:
