December 12, 2004 - On our own in Death Valley

Barb and Dave decided to be at the sand dunes early for another photography class so we were on our own.

We decided to look at the Borax Museum and found it closed.  But the outdoor displays were still available:

Arrested decay:

Picture display of the flash flood that caused so much damage:

Some of the pictures:

The restaurants in the park have a varied menu, but all are fairly pricey.  We ate in all meals:

The lunch menu at the "cheapest" place:

We did make it to the sand dunes and found this raven standing guard:

Looking towards the sand dunes:

We went to the sand dunes and looked for critter tracks and had a difficult time finding some that had no human tracks with them:

Then we drove to the west entrance where the mountains have interesting colors:

We encountered a couple people on motorcycles touring the park.  They were fun to talk to.

Once we got back to the campground we compared notes with Dave and Barb.  The photography class was similar to the one at Badwater.  But they had a good day and drove all the way to the high point in the park where there was snow on the ground.
