A typical scene from the Alaska Highway on August 13th:

A very nice scenic viewpoint on the river. In a few weeks the salmon will run and the river will be full of bald eagles and bears:

There was a construction zone at the south end of the lake that was new since June. It was a six mile pilot car section. Here is a picture of Sheep Mountain to the north as we waited for the pilot car:

We were the lead vehicle behind one of the pilot cars. Here is a picture as we pass another group:

The construction trucks are huge (the wire is our GPS cable):

The dandelions are going to seed and covering the ground:

After the construction zone the road became quite good and it was an easy drive to Haines Junction.
