June 22, 2006 - The Alaska Highway between Whitehorse and Destruction Bay

We also saw these signs going north to Dawson City, they mean that calling 911 on your phone doesn't work here.  We were really not that far from Whitehorse when we saw the sign.

A classic through the windshield shot, the mountains and signs on the highway for rough pavement (mostly frost heaves):

We stopped at the Canyon Creek Bridge:

How would you like to take your vehicle over this bridge?  (It is not in use anymore.)

Here is Canyon Creek, this would be called a river further south:

Another great view through the windshield:

A construction zone just before Haines Junction.  We are waiting for the pilot car and had fun talking to the flagger.

Kluane Lake:

The Kluane Range was next to the highway:

The wind made it hard to stop to take more pictures, there was a lot of dust stirred up by the wind around Kluane Lake.
