August 17 to 26, 2011 - Birch Bay (Blaine), WA

August 17th we headed north out of Rochester.  Our GPS said there was traffic on I-5 in Seattle so it routed us via I-405.  After 193 miles we were at NACO Birch Bay.  Our last stay here was in July 2008.

August 18th we drove to Mukilteo, again, for Diane's doctor visits.  We had a nice lunch at Patty's Eggnest in Mukilteo.  It was a much easier drive than coming from the south.

August 19th we toured a bit in Bellingham and saw the Alaska ferry was in:

We had an excellent lunch at Mi Casa.  After that we took Chuckanut Drive south of Bellingham but it was foggy so no photos.

On the 20th the weather was great so we had dinner at Anthony's Hearthfire Grill in Bellingham which has a great view.

August 22nd we drove to the Semiahmoo Resort to have dinner at Packers with Patty and Floyd.  We got there a bit earlier than Floyd and Patty so Bill took a couple photos.

This is what the place looks like.

The view is of White Rock, BC.

Of course once Patty and Floyd arrived we were too busy talking and eating to take photos.  It was a good meal and a really great visit.

Diane's phone beeped and it was a text message she had data roamed into Canada.  Bill called the next day since the phone had data roaming turned off.  The Verizon rep said it still happens, but he would make sure we were not charged.

August 24th sunset from the campground.

August 25th we drove down to Mount Vernon and visited with Dick and Pat.  The four of us ended up at Olive Garden for dinner.

August 26th we were again in Bellingham for lunch so we tried Busara Thai, which was good.

Now we are heading back to Monroe for a few days.
