August 19, 2006 - Watson Lake Sign Forest Again

When we stopped at the Sign Post Forest in June, it was hot and we wanted to stop further on so we did not stay long.  This time we had a few hours and the temperature was about 70.  Bill tried to take pictures of everything and quickly went into overwhelm.  In the visitors center the last sign census was in September 2004 and there were almost 55,000 signs.  There are more now and we saw people putting up still more.

These are sample pictures Bill took, mostly because there was something interesting to us about some sign in the picture:

This next one is the only one we found of someone we know, though we were looking:

In the middle of the signs are some pieces of old equipment:

Victorville is much larger these days:

We realized that it would take more time to see the sign forest right and find more of our friends' signs.  We figure a couple days stay in Watson Lake with about three visits per day would be about the right pace.  It all starts to look the same quickly.
