October 7 to 14, 2007 - Back to Clermont, FL

We left Rincon, GA on October 7th and headed towards Florida on I-95.  First we filled up with fuel in Georgia, it was cheaper than Florida.  Then we drove into Florida, took I-295 west around Jacksonville and headed west on I-10 to US301 south.  It was strange to not stop in Jacksonville, but our friends Carolle and Ken were not in town.  We will be back in November.  We made it to Ocala, FL after 239 miles and stayed at Wandering Oaks RV Resort on Passport America.  They gave us a brand new campsite, the electricity had just been hooked up but cable TV was not.  There were plenty of campsites available, it was still low season here.

October 8th we went south on US301 and then followed US27 to Thousand Trails Orlando in Clermont.  It was only 74 miles, but we had to slow down for lots of stoplights.  Being low season we got to pick our site, unlike how they assign them in high season like our previous stay in January 2006.

Our stop was mostly to slow down after playing tourist for the last month or so.  We also washed the motorhome.

One cardinal made life interesting for us, since it "played with Evita".  Here it is in the window behind Diane:

One day we had some mail to send and turned off US50 for a "Post Office" sign and found this charming town of Oakland.  The photos do not really show why the place felt so charming:

It just felt so "Florida" to us:

We felt this was funny, this is in Orlando close to the outlet malls:

It was a relaxing stay in the Orlando area.
