Then we moved to the dome room, which used to be where the Senate was held.  The problem is the "dome effect" caused people across the room to be able to hear even whispered conversations, as our guide demonstrated.  This did not work well.  Now it holds statues and Lady Liberty:

We toured more inside in a controlled area but it was too dark for photos to work well.  Then we could come out and see the mall from the Capitol Building:
