July 28, 2009 - North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt NP and Painted Canyon, Part 1

July 28th we drove the 35 miles into Dickinson to buy some groceries and had lunch at Perkins.  Now we were ready to see Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

The drive north was not very exciting.  And yes, we should have cleaned the windshield.

A few miles south of the North entrance the speed limit drops to 55 from 65 and you enter the bad lands.  They do provide a scenic overlook:

The entrance road is under construction and requires a pilot car.  We stopped at the visitors center.  We had to wait for the next pilot car to go on.
