September 30, 2012 - exploring Port Orford to Gold Beach, OR

Looking at the local map we decided to start with Paradise Point at the north end of Port Orford.

Nice spot on the Pacific Ocean.

Sea stacks far out in this enhanced telephoto.

A panorama at Paradise Point.

Next we moved on to Port Orford Heads State Park.

We took the Cove Trail.

View of the Cove.

Telephoto shot of the kelp.

And the birds on land.

The old Coast Guard lookout tower was here.

Nice views.

More birds.

A Coast Guard Lifeboat on display.

Next we checked out the viewpoint above the port.

Then we drove all the way south to Gold Beach and then to the south end of Gold Beach.  It was windy and we were looking for whales, but did not see any.

On the way back we stopped to see the Geisel Monument.

Then we headed home.
