November 20, 2012 - Sonora Desert Museum, Part 1

We had not been to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum since November 15, 2004, which was too long.

Right at the entrance a docent was showing a barn owl.

Inside another docent had a Harris Hawk.

We wandered a bit and then went to the 10AM Free Flight.  We were not the only ones.

They started with a Great Horned Owl.

Beautiful and quite vocal.

It was hard to get good photos so we don't have all the birds but here is a Prairie Falcon:

And a Ferruginous Hawk:

The Free Flight demonstrations are wonderful and there are two a day, with different birds at each one.

There are other animals in enclosures like these javelina (Collared Peccary):

There are frogs in the desert:

Sleeping fox:

Ocelot:

We had a nice lunch at the Ocotillo Cafe.
