February 2, 2013 - Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park

Ken and Martha picked us up at our campground and we drove to Superior to have lunch.  This time we tried the other Mexican restaurant in Superior.  The food was a bit better but we had very slow service.

Then we went on to the State Park.

Yes, dogs are allowed.

We found out there was going to be a docent led walk on Australia soon so we didn't stray far.

Australia?  Yes, much of the country has similar climates to Arizona.

The tour was quite good and interesting.  This is a replica sheepherder's house, based on photos of the real thing.

A gum tree, known as a "widowmaker" since the limbs can fall without warning.

After the tour we wandered and photographed.

An asparagus plant, related to the one we eat.

Daffodils blooming.

Great sign.

It is a scenic setting.

There is even a lake.

It was a fun day and this is definitely a worthwhile park to visit.   Martha's journal entry for the day.
