November 2, 2003 - Tybee Island, GA

Tybee Island is close to Savannah and is where the people in the city play on the ocean.  We visited on November 2nd.  It is also important for turtles:

The beach:

Looking back at the lighthouse:

We had a nice lunch at a beach snack shack and went to tour the small fort and lighthouse.

From the small fort by the beach you can see a bit more:

Then there is the lighthouse:

We went to the top via the stairs and here is the view:

Fort Pulaski is our next destination:

There were wasp nests at the top, so all of us were watching out for the wasps as much as we were sightseeing.

We could see why the citizens of Savannah liked to come out to Tybee Island.

Back to Savannah    On to Fort Pulaski National Monument
