June 23 to 29, 2005 - Seaview/Long Beach, WA

June 23rd we drove 111 miles to Seaview, WA, which is just south of Long Beach, WA.  The road was narrow part of the way and we took a rock chip while going about 45mph that cracked.  We had come to the Thousand Trails/NACO Long Beach Preserve (Thousand Trails calls campgrounds "preserves").  Here is our campsite, the second picture shows the way to the beach:

Hookups were a bit different here, luckily we carry enough sewer hose:

We took the trail to the beach on the Pacific Ocean:

Here is how someone took an old motorhome and "modernized" it with a new paint job:

We knew the area fairly well since we had vacationed here in the past before we had a motorhome.

Diane's cousin, Vicky, had a bead and craft shop in Chinook, about eight miles away on the road to the Astoria bridge into Oregon.  We visited her multiple times and Diane stayed one day and learned how to make glass cabochons.

We visited Astoria a couple times, it had a Costco, and we ate at the Pig-n-Pancake twice.

One day we drove down to Cannon Beach, OR and visited our friends Jane and Victor at their coffee house, Sleepy Monk Coffee.  It was really good to see them again and their coffee is excellent.  Jane didn't mind me saying how good Babys Coffee was in Key West, FL, she thought it was some of the best also and had visited the shop.

June 25th we ventured to the beach at Long Beach to see kites, but first we saw the whale skeleton:

Then we saw kites:

This is also an area for shipwrecks:

And dune plants:

But there are more kites to see:

There was also a stunt kite competition where the kites were flown in unison:

We toured the area, we ate at some favorite restaurants, 42nd Street Cafe and Lightship, we visited with Vicky.  Our week went fast.
