October 23 to November 1, 2009 - North and South Carolina

We drove out of Virginia on October 23rd into mountains and fog and headed into North Carolina.  Once out of the mountains the fog went away and 165 miles later we were camped at TT Forest Lake in Advance, NC.  Nice fall colors here.

The next day we drove up to Winston-Salem and had lunch at Fuddruckers.  We were not sure when we would next see one.

We really liked this campground and hope to come back for longer in the future.

October 25th we headed south into South Carolina and after 213 miles we were set up at Briarcliffe RV Resort at the north end of Myrtle Beach.

Right next to the campground was a Fuddruckers, so we didn't have to worry when we were in North Carolina.

Evita being cute:

We had a lot of rain in our few days in Briarcliffe.  One day we drove up to Southport, NC and found it mostly closed down for the season.  We ended up having lunch at a Bojangles, still about the best fast food fried chicken we have had.  But it is spicey.  Our other lunch out was at a bland Thai restaurant in North Myrtle Beach, we didn't know Thai could be that bland.

October 28th we moved 21 miles to Pirateland Family Campground at the south end of Myrtle Beach.  We last camped here in October 2003.

Down the way are Denny and Linda  We had last seen them in Elkhart, IN in August where we all visited the RV Hall of Fame

A white ibis in the campground.

Halloween Social "Hour" and Trick or Treaters

We had a great time socializing in Myrtle Beach.

Notable places we ate while in Myrtle Beach were Bojangles, still the best fast food friend chicken we know, and Eggs Up Grill.

November 1st we left Myrtle Beach and headed towards Georgia, but we were not done with South Carolina since we camped at Pine Acres Campground in Aiken, SC for the night.  We had driven 171 miles.  Again our front wheels are in the air.

Now to see some of the Atlanta area.
