April 16 to 22, 2012 - Lubbock, TX to Moab, UT

We headed out of the ranch on April 16th and traveled north.

A wind farm on the route.

After a long 316 mile trip we were camped at the Lubbock, TX Elks lodge.  Our last stay here was in April 2010.

We were glad this thunderstorm missed us but the locals wanted the rain.

Nice sunset.

The next day we had another long day of 304 miles to Hidden Valley RV Resort in Tijeras, NM, just east of Albuquerque.  Our last stay here was in Octoberl 2010.

Only having one full day in the Albuquerque area was not enough.  Luckily we have been here for longer times in the past.  We did shop at Trader Joe's for the first time since October.

We ate at Red Robin, where we had a coupon about to expire, and had our New Mexican meal at Los Cuates, a place we know well.

April 19th we headed out of Tijeras going NW and eventually we were on US550, which would be scenic in nicer weather.

Crossing the Continental Divide at 7,380 feet elevation.

After 202 miles we were camped at the Farmington, NM Elks lodge.  Our last stay here was in April 2010.

We had decided to camp at the southernmost campsite for the view, but it was not very level so our front tire was in the air.

Our view.

April 20th we drove north into Colorado and then west into Utah and after 180 miles were camped at Spanish Trail RV Park in Moab, UT.   This is our first stay at this campground but we were last in Moab in April 2010.

The weather was warm and we had our picnic lunch supplies.  We only have a short stay this time but intended to make the best of it.

Soon after setting up Bill noticed the rear air conditioner was not cooling but its fan was blowing.  This is the new unit installed in March and it had been working for three weeks.  We tested it as a heat pump in the morning and it was not heating either.  Now we have to arrange to replace it or fix it, again.

The 21st was a nice day for our day trip to Arches National Park.
