March 12, 2013 - Apache Trail

We last took the Apache Trail on March 14, 2007.  We were overdue for another trip and Lawrence wanted to go along.

We picked Lawrence up in Apache Junction and headed out.  The plan was to have lunch at Tortilla Flat, something we had not done but Lawrence had.

A scenic stop before Tortilla Flat to see Canyon Lake.

At Tortilla Flat the water was running over the highway.  There was also a wait for a table since it was a beautiful day.

Lots of people.

We finally got seated, had a nice meal and were on our way.  Now we will be on dirt road to the dam.

Nice scenery along the way.

Apache Lake.

Finally the Roosevelt Dam and paved road again.

Big fish.

The famous bridge view.

It was now too late to visit Tonto National Monument, so we stopped to take photos.

The sun was in the wrong place so we had to enhance this photo to show the cliff dwelling.

Then we drove back to Apache Junction via Globe.

It was dinner time when we got back to Apache Junction so we had dinner at Streets of New York with Lawrence.  Then we dropped him off at his motorhome and headed home.
