February 16, 2008 - Sanibel Island and Ding Darling NWR, Part 3

The night heron sees something to eat:

Slowly leaning down:

Bam, a crab is caught:

A little bird we saw on the side of the road while stopping to see a spoonbill and stork in the woods.

Another night heron in a Zen posture:

Lots of fish here:

Including these larger ones:

A tri-colored heron.

White pelicans and other birds:

A refuge volunteer was watching this egret through his spotting scope and said he was sure it was a white morph of a reddish egret since he saw some red in its beak.  Can't tell from our photos, of which this one is the best.

Snowy egrets, gulls and roseate spoonbills:

On our last stop we saw more moorhen.

Bill was hoping to see an American Crocodile but we didn't even see any alligators on the wildlife drive.

Done with the drive we headed home.  The arts and crafts fair was winding down and the traffic was fine.
