February 16 to 29, 2008 - Fort Myers Beach, Florida

Our last two weeks in Fort Myers Beach went well.

February 16th we went to Sanibel Island and the J.N. "Ding" Darling NWR, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

We had a nice sunset on February 19th:

We have actually had many nice sunsets here, but missed getting photos.

Lunar Eclipse Photos on February 20th

Big Cypress February 26th, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4

Lots of bird photos around the campground.  We have split them into two web pages:

Egrets and Herons

Eagles and other Birds

Evita was being photogenic one day:

We managed to get together with Lawrence while he was in Fort Myers, it was really good to see him again and meet his new cat, Jason.  We last saw Lawrence in January 2006.

We didn't add any new restaurants to our list other than Green Flash in Sanibel, but did visit Cracker Barrel (with Lawrence), Noodles, TGI Friday's and Macaroni Grill during this time.

We have not stayed this long anywhere else, 2-1/2 months.  We did enjoy the place and could come back so it did not grow old.  We liked the flora and fauna, we liked having Costco close by, we liked all the attractions close by and we liked our campsite.  We wore shorts most days and rarely needed to run the heat, even in the morning.  Too bad it is so far from Western Washington State and our families.  We do know not to be here in summer, it is hot, humid and the biting bugs are fierce, especially the "no see ums", also called biting midges.  The particular campsite we were on is for sale for $129,000, but we are not looking to buy an RV lot anywhere.

It is time to move on.
