September 7 to 19, 2004 - Oregon Coast

September 7th we drove 179 miles to Chinook Bend RV Resort in Lincoln City, OR via Corvallis.  We had prepaid through Coast-to-Coast to stay here, otherwise we would have left as soon as we saw the rules.  Their solution to having weak electric power was to ban use of anything that used much power, like air conditioners, washer/dryers, etc.  Our neighbor said they actually enforce it and come around and listen to the sounds.  Here is our tight fitting campsite, which we paid an extra $2/night for and a view of the campground:

Nice local beach area:

We took the Three Capes Loop on September 8

September 10th we toured south, here are some of the views:

Squirrels are always around:

Each location is different:

We enjoyed the area around Lincoln City but will stay somewhere else next time.  We didn't find a restaurant worth reporting on.  We did enjoy cooking some fresh ahi tuna from a shop in Depoe Bay.  We also didn't see any whales this trip.

September 13th we drove 74 miles south on the coast to the Florence, OR Elks lodge as guests of Robin and Sharyn.  Here is our campsite:

Mike arranged for us to come, we hadn't seen him or his dog Mac since Life on Wheels in Moscow, ID.

Robin and Sharyn's motorhome:

A view in the Florence area:

We had some fun meals with the group and had one great lunch at Bridgewater in Florence.  We were glad we could visit with everyone and didn't just drive further south.

On the 16th we drove 155 miles south to Driftwood RV Park in Brookings, OR, just north of the California border.  Here is our campsite:

Brookings is a place we have stopped at in the past, but only for a night.  This time we were staying four.
